Great success for the Comets in their inaugural tournament - TWIST in Wallingford. 2 teams saw semi final action and the U13 Comets Black (still playing as U12) collected a (big) trophy.
With a few players injured and essentially playing with 10 players, the U13 Comets Red (still competing as U12) advanced to the semi final game ranked #2 in a 4-team bracket. The team beat VSA of MA and tied Southeast only to fall short to Wallingford in the semis. Coach Sana Sarr and the girls are as united as ever before.
Very close were the young U12 Comets Black (playing as U11) who came within less than 10 minutes from advancing to the final game. Coached by Erik Jungk and Eyal Yazdi, this team (with quite a few new faces) lost to Oakwood who ended up winning the age group.
Coaches Mark Morazes and Jim Ferro saw their U15 Comets Black (playing in the U14 Division) miss the semi final match by losing the goals-against tie breaker. The team went 2-1-1 in their 4-game preliminary rounds where they scored 11(!) goals. Most players are going to the high school seasons and will come back ready to rock ’n roll!
The U13 Comets Black managed to bring home the first trophy for the New England Comets Premier Soccer Club! The team had to work hard to defeat a physical Western United (MA) team, which beat the Comets in the preliminary-round game. A late goal in the second half sent the team to celebrate winning its last tournament as U12 Comets.
WELL DONE EVERYONE - GO COMETS!!!
